Last February, we participated in the Mobile World Congress, the most important technological event in the field of mobile communication, which takes place every year in Barcelona. This event represents the global epicenter of technology and connectivity, where we share our latest innovations with the industry.
During this occasion,Chema AlonsoChief Digital Officer of Telefónica and CEO of Telefónica Innovación Digital, presented the demonstration of the Telefónica Open Gateway Where he explored the latest developments of Telefónica Open Gateway, an innovative platform that is transforming the way we interact with mobile technology.
He showed us the potential of Telefónica’s Open Gateway APIs , highlighting how these programming interfaces are driving the creation of innovative and customized solutions for both businesses and consumers. Open Gateway APIs make it easy for developers to access functions and data from Telefónica’s telecommunications networks, enabling them to create applications and services that take full advantage of mobile connectivity.
He also unveiled details of the new wave of disruptive innovation driven by Telefónica, focused on creating more seamless, secure and personalized digital experiences for users. This innovation addresses emerging challenges and opportunities in the digital world.
Innovation and Connectivity

- SIM Swap API: a solution that facilitates the integration of SIM card replacement detection and management capabilities into applications, with the aim of identifying possible fraud and providing an additional layer of protection. In addition, this API leverages the operator’s network data to enable quick and tailored adjustments to the security protocols for each service.
- API Number Verification: allows the incorporation of a reliable authentication system that uses the telephone number to validate the identity of users. Going into more detail, it provides an automatic and quick way to identify if a user is connecting from a device that has a SIM card associated with a unique mobile number (MSISDN). This mechanism makes it easier to verify data for services that use mobile numbers and one-time passwords via SMS.
These initiatives involve the creation of solutions that drive progress and security in the digital age, placing us at the forefront of digital trust.
