DIGITEL TS has been honored to be invited by IZERTIS to participate in the Identfy Day event, a crucial discussion forum on the future of digital identity in Europe. Also present at this event were Jesús Ruiz Martínez from IN2 Ingeniería de la Información, as well as Julián Inza and Javier Colás from Additum Blockchain.

During Identfy Day, IZERTIS showcased its innovative European digital wallet solution Identfy, including a real-time demonstration of the EUIDW. This demonstration included the creation of verifiable credentials and explored the crucial role of qTSPs in the new Regulation (EU) 1183/2024, known as “eIDAS 2.0”.

The “state of the art” in the generation of identity through videoconferencing and other additional channels, in compliance with the Spanish regulation ETD/465 derived from law 6/2020, was presented. Also discussed were the regulatory changes driven by eIDAS 2.0, which require high levels of security for identification in the new European digital identity.

In addition, the role of DIGITEL TS as a qTSP in the generation of identity in European digital portfolios (PID in EUIDW), the management of verifiable credentials (EAA in EUIDW), and the legal and business impacts in various sectors such as banking, insurance, telecommunications, utilities and services, as well as in public administrations, were highlighted.

The event concluded with a panel discussion, where the challenges of wallet interoperability were discussed, presenting practical examples that will be implemented this year. Among them, the Marketplace of Cloud and Edge services in the EU, DOME, presented by Jesús Ruiz Martínez, and use cases in the health sector highlighted by Javier Colás, underlining the importance of digital identity in this field.

The need to standardize data models and consent management, the importance of adopting this new decentralized identity with full usability for the citizen, and the vital role of qTSPs as generators of trust and security in this new digital environment were highlighted.

We thank the IZERTIS team for organizing such a relevant event, which undoubtedly marks a milestone in the progress towards a more secure and efficient European digital identity.
